We are expanding our Action team in Romania to drive our local growth and development. We are now looking for a talented Payroll Expert to join us on this exciting journey.

The Payroll Expert is part of the Global HR Services Department, reporting to the Payroll Coordinator, and the main focus lies on ensuring a timely and correct salary payment.

Areas of responsibility:

Payroll processing:
  • Gathers, processes and checks payroll data.
  • Processes tax/social security/health insurance.
  • Ensures all payments are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Oversees payroll process and suggests improvements to ensure efficient and accurate payroll processing, tax reporting, payroll accounting and record retention.
  • Assists with payroll audits, unemployment claims, payroll accruals, employee correspondence, various statistics.
  • Executes required reporting, both internal and statutory reporting.
  • Provides and checks journals for Finance.
  • Supports Finance on reconciling payroll related general ledgers accounts.
  • Collaborates with external payroll providers and the central Action HR Admin and Payroll teams.
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders regarding payroll and amendments in processes and legislation.
  • Makes sure that payroll records/documents are archived in an accurate manner.
  • Supports HR Country offices for HR admin and payroll related aspects.

Specific expertise:
  • Establishes, implements, and maintains appropriate internal payroll controls, operating processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs critical reviews and analyzes payroll procedures in order to recommend, develop and implement changes leading to best practice operations.
  • Keeps up to date with regards to relevant developments in expertise and actively shares knowledge.
  • Maintains/shares knowledge on taxation, social security, insurances, legislation.
  • Anticipates on amendments of legislation and the consequences thereof and provides recommendation to management.
  • Continuously develops good knowledge of Payroll/HR systems and the links between the systems and uses this knowledge to advise on system changes.
  • Requests system changes when necessary.
  • Performs testing system changes.
  • Handles change requests in collaboration with the Global Payroll Team.
  • Guides new employees in processes/systems.
  • Proactively executes controls regarding the payroll process.
  • Second line support for HR Services department on complex issues.

Previous experience:
  • Bachelor degree.
  • Local payroll certification.
  • Minimum 4 years of demonstrated experience in complex payroll/HR administration environment, preferably in the Retail industry.
  • In depth knowledge of Payroll and HR systems (working with Success Factors is a plus).
  • Strong experience in managing local labor authorities controls (ITM, IGI etc.).
