REQUIREMENTS
PREFERRED
- Certification: Active CECCAR student/member (or equivalent CCF/CAFR/ACCA/CFA).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in accounting (preferably within a leading accounting firm), including hands-on management of multinational client portfolios. You have experience preparing trial balances (“nivel balanță”) and filing monthly tax forms (VAT etc.) to ANAF, as well as drafting annual financial statements (“nivel bilanț”). Familiarity with Romanian tax compliance requirements (D112, D406, VAT returns etc.) is required.
- Language: Fluent in English (both written and spoken) for professional client communication; fluency in Romanian is also necessary for local compliance work.
- Proficiency with modern accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks) and collaborative spreadsheets (e.g. pivot tables, vlookup, data validation).
- Proven experience with process automation tools (Microsoft Power Automate or similar - Make, Zapier, UiPath, 4Secunde etc.) to streamline workflows.
- Work Style: Organised, deadline-driven, and proactive. Able to work independently and take ownership of tasks without constant supervision. Excellent communication and client service skills, with a team-oriented attitude.
PREFERRED
- Experience working with clients in energy, technology, or media.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage end-to-end bookkeeping and accounting for a portfolio of international clients, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled. Maintain clarity and rigor in all records, and prepare monthly/quarterly tax declarations (VAT, income tax, etc.) in compliance with Romanian laws and deadlines.
- Financial Reporting: Draft and submit interim and annual financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, etc.) in accordance with local accounting standards. Liaise with ANAF for audits or inquiries, handling all communications and ensuring compliance issues are resolved professionally.
- Client Interaction: Serve as a point of contact for clients on financial reports and accounting inquiries. Provide clear explanations and advice on compliance matters, demonstrating professionalism and excellent service in all client interactions.
- Process Automation & Portal Management: Develop our Client Portal and automation tools to streamline workflows. Assign and track tasks, collect documents, and automate routine client interactions through the portal. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and implement workflow automations (e.g. creating Microsoft Power Automate flows or similar) for repetitive tasks. Collaborate with colleagues (accountants, payroll specialists) using shared portal workflows to ensure seamless service delivery. Participate actively in the continuous improvement of our Client Portal and automation processes.
- Advisory Support: When needed, assist partners on advisory, digitalization, or restructuring projects. Contribute to business development initiatives, such as creating content for our Piroi | Business in Romania app or knowledge base, to share insights on accounting and tax topics.
- Compliance & Deadlines: Take full ownership of your portfolio’s compliance calendar. Ensure all filings (VAT returns, SAF-T reports, payroll declarations etc.) and monthly closing procedures are completed accurately and on time, without the need for reminders. Proactively flag any risks or delays early and suggest solutions.
