Candidatul Ideal
You’ve worked in sales, marketing or business development before — even if that wasn’t your official job title — and you’re good at it. You know how to start conversations, follow up consistently, turn interest into collaboration and you like to talk to new people about something you’re genuinely passionate about!
You’re patient in the process of building relationships and you fully accept that this process requires persistence and consistent follow-up.
This is your jam: you love diving into a crowd, compassionately connecting with people and then consistently following up so that meetings turn into fruitful collaborations. You don’t need anyone looking over your shoulder - you got this.
You understand social media and are willing to use it as a tool to reach the people who need to find us.
The challenge of launching a community from scratch in a new city - finding the right organizations, building trust, following up and watching it grow - genuinely excites you. You love the idea of becoming a nomad that leaves a blossoming community behind in each city you visit.
You’d rather have a dynamic role, blending teamwork and ownership of your own tasks than a rigid structure in which someone tells you what to do.
Descrierea jobului
This is a hands-on sales and marketing role.
You’ll spend most of your time:
Reaching out to aligned organizations, NGOs, companies, student groups, customers and community leaders.
Supporting our marketing efforts by helping create thoughtful and fun content for social media, mainly through simple video formats: short interviews, event footage, reels to camera, and presentations of the Connection Games experience.
Attending networking events, conferences, and meetups.
Listening carefully to partner and customer needs and shaping collaborations that create mutual value.
Representing Makuma publicly — online, on stage, and at events as a friendly host (this is not a facilitation role).
Weaving into a dynamic, start-up environment: sometimes you’ll be figuring out a collaboration with a grassroots NGO, other times drafting video ideas or being the smiling face greeting people at a Connection Games event or on our social media.
As we expand into new European cities, you and our founder will be the first ‘boots on the ground’: identifying key community organizations, coordinating marketing campaigns for the new audience, securing local media coverage, and rapidly building the partnership network that turns a new city from zero to thriving community in 1-2 months.
What We Need From You
Essential:
Energized by people: Social situations fuel you, not drain you. Your friends would describe you as the extrovert. A day of calls and meetings is a good day. Approaching a stranger and starting a conversation is no big deal.
Comfortable in the spotlight: on stage or online, you enjoy publicly representing Makuma.
Mission-aligned: You care about reducing loneliness and building intercultural understanding.
Self-directed: You see what needs doing and make it happen.
Culturally adaptive: You read rooms instinctively - business executives, NGO activists, student organizers - and build rapport across contexts.
Fluent in English (as we work internationally).
Sales and marketing experience: You've done this before and you're good at it. Cold calling feels like a creative challenge.
Bonus:
Experience in social entrepreneurship, NGO work, or community organizing.
Existing connections in Cluj's international, student, business or personal development communities.
Personal experience living abroad or in community & international contexts.
Romanian fluency, and any other languages.
What We Offer
Flexible: Choose your own work schedule, hang out in our friendly office in central Cluj-Napoca or work remotely; real growth and relocation opportunities as we expand across Europe
Meaningful: Your success means fewer people feeling lonely. Watch communities form, people bloom, friendships cross cultural boundaries. Be part of increasing social cohesion through authentic human connection. Work with a tight-knit team that values clarity, deep focus, authenticity and regular check-ins that are also about how we feel, not just what we did.
Fun: Be part of something new and innovative, meeting loads of lovely new people while exploring new places.
You’ll be a permanent full-time employee, earning 5000 RON/month gross (brut), negotiable.
Descrierea companiei
We believe meaningful human connection is a fundamental need in an increasingly divided and distracted world. Makuma is a social enterprise that blends technology and authentic human presence into structured social experiences guided by our five core values: curiosity, compassion, consent, presence, and courage.
At the heart of Makuma is a mix of community-building, authentic marketing, and partnership-driven growth. We create spaces where people can be genuinely seen. Our goal is to reduce loneliness, foster intercultural understanding, provide accessible access and grow vibrant local communities city by city.
Our Team & Culture
We're growing a small team of friendly and enthusiastic humans. We value deep focus over multitasking, clarity over chaos, and regular check-ins over assumptions. Non-hierarchical, but you own your domain and can ask for guidance whenever you need it. We practice our values of curiosity, compassion, consent, presence and courage- not just for participants, but also for how we work together.
We aim to have a full team as soon as possible, so if that all sounds good to you, we’re looking forward to meeting you!
