Lead Developer

Reporting to the Head of Data Analytics and Reporting, the Lead Developer | Data Analytics and Reporting, is a key member of the newly established Technical Reporting Team within the Data Analytics & Reporting Area. This role is designed to provide a structured link between business stakeholders (both internal and external) and technical development/ data teams.
The primary objective is to translate business reporting needs into data-driven solutions using strong analytical thinking, SQL, and ETL processes. The role involves understanding data models, sourcing relevant data from internal systems (primarily via SQL), supporting data pipeline integrity, and building reliable reporting solutions.

What you’ll do:
The Lead Developer for Data Analytics and Reporting will be involved in the following activities:
Technical leadership:

• Mentor junior developers or provide technical guidance; lead by example through coding practices, best practices, and technical decisions

Data Analytics and Reporting Development:

• Design and implement scalable, high-performance data pipelines and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure clean, accurate and actionable data
• Develop advances data models, dashboards and visualisations using BI tools (e.g.: power BI)
• Build custom reports and tools to provide business insights and track KPIs;
• Integrate data from multiple sources (databases, third -party APIs, internal systems) into a comprehensive reporting structure

Data Security and Compliance:

• Ensure security best practices are followed and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) is maintained
• Ensure that the reports and dashboards reflect correct, complete, and timely data, with minimal errors or discrepancies

Performance and optimisation:

• Optimize data models, queries, and reports to improve the speed and responsiveness of data-driven applications
• Perform regular performance reviews of data analytics systems and reporting tools to ensure they meet the business needs effectively

Continuous improvement and innovation:

• Propose new technologies, tools, and methodologies to improve the performance of data systems
• Keep up with the latest tools, technologies and trends in data analytics and reporting

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with business analysts, project managers and business stakeholders to understand reporting needs and define requirements
• Provide complex data insights in a concise manner to non-technical stakeholders

Documentation & Training:

• Maintain up-to-date documentation for all analytics solutions, processes, and procedures
• Prepare and deliver updates to all levels of management on analytics performance, data insights and reporting improvements
• Provide training and support to users of data analytics tools, ensuring they are fully prepared to make data-driven decisions
• Offer support on how to interpret and act on the data from the reports and dashboards

What you’ll bring:

• Minimum of 3 years in a data engineering or similar technical role
• Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale data applications and data pipelines
• Strong background in database management and data modelling
• Proficient in using SQL, Python for data extraction, analysis, and automation
• Extensive experience with both relational (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle)
• Expertise in data warehousing
• Strong knowledge of data modelling techniques and best practices
• Familiarity with version control systems like Git
• Expertise in advanced data security measures and encryption techniques
• Experience in developing and managing APIs for data access and integrationHow you’ll bring:Strong self-confidence, good judgment and the ability to make sound decisions

• Excellent English and Romanian skills

Valuable additional Skills & Attributes:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. A Master’s degree is a plus
• Experience in mentoring developers
• Experience integrating machine learning models into data pipelines
• Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Google Data Engineer Certification)
• Familiarity with BI tools for visualization or dashboard creation (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik)
• Experience with agile project delivery (Scrum/Kanban)
