As a Technical Project Manager, you will take ownership of software engineering work packages, ensuring the successful delivery of complex solutions within agreed timelines, budget, and quality standards. Acting as the Software Work Package Manager (SW WPM), you will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, manage technical risks and dependencies, and serve as a key interface between project, engineering, verification, and customer stakeholders. You will play a pivotal role in driving execution, governance, and delivery excellence throughout the project lifecycle.
A typical day might include the following activities
- Plan, assign, and coordinate engineering activities to achieve project milestones and delivery objectives.
- Collaborate closely with Project Design Authorities (PDA), Integration Verification Validation and Qualification Managers (IVVQM), Project Managers, and Engineering teams.
- Review and challenge proposed technical designs to ensure alignment with project constraints, objectives, and customer expectations.
- Coordinate engineering activities across multiple teams and sub-systems to ensure solution compatibility and integration.
- Monitor project progress, workload, schedules, and technical deliverables, ensuring commitments are met.
- Identify, assess, monitor, and mitigate technical risks while managing associated action plans.
- Define and formalize work package scope, requirements, deliverables, and resource needs.
- Ensure requirements integrity, traceability, and consistency throughout project execution.
- Manage technical interactions with subcontractors and support procurement and supplier assessment activities.
- Collaborate with customers on technical aspects of project execution and solution delivery.
- Support verification, validation, qualification, and integration activities to ensure successful deployment.
- Coordinate dependencies between internal and external stakeholders and ensure effective follow-up.
- Contribute to bid and proposal activities, providing technical and delivery expertise.
- Produce project status reports and communicate progress, risks, issues, and resource requirements to stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement by promoting project management best practices, processes, and delivery methodologies.
- Balance project priorities while maintaining the appropriate focus on quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
