Candidatul Ideal

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Import and Export Specialist to join our team in Romania. Our company focuses on the production and sales of cookware, with main raw materials including iron plates, aluminum plates and corresponding cookware semi-finished products. The main import source is China, and the main sales market is within the European Union (EU). The incumbent will be fully responsible for the company’s end-to-end import and export operations, ensure strict compliance with Romanian local laws and regulations, especially the requirements of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), and promote the smooth flow of the company’s global supply chain (China import) and EU sales logistics.

What we are looking for:

1. Educational Background
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in International Trade, Logistics Management, Customs Declaration, Economics, or other related majors.

2. Work Experience
  • At least 1-2 years of working experience in import and export operations, with experience in Romania or EU in/out deliveries is preferred.
  • Proven experience in handling imports from China and deliveries the EU; experience in the cookware industry or metal materials (iron, aluminum) is a significant plus.
  • Familiar with the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and relevant compliance operations is mandatory.

3. Professional Competencies
  • Proficient in Romanian local import and export laws, regulations, customs procedures, and EU trade policies; master CBAM calculation, declaration, and filing processes.
  • Familiar with the import process of iron plates, aluminum plates and semi-finished products from China, and the delivery process of cookware products within the EU; able to independently handle customs clearance, document preparation, and logistics coordination.
  • Skilled in using office software (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiar with import/export management systems or customs declaration software is preferred.
  • Strong ability to analyze and solve problems, with a high sense of responsibility and attention to detail, able to ensure the accuracy and compliance of all operations.

4. Language & Soft Skills
  • Fluent in English and Romanian (verbal and written), able to efficiently communicate with local government departments, customs, logistics partners, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Chinese (verbal & written) is a plus, to facilitate communication with Chinese suppliers.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and negotiation skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Integrity, reliability, and a proactive work attitude; able to work independently and as part of a team;

5. Certifications (Preferred)
  • Customs declaration certificate, logistics professional certification, or CBAM-related training certification.
  • Relevant professional certifications in international trade or customs compliance.

6. Working Conditions
  • Work location: Office and factory in Romania; occasional on-site work may be required for logistics coordination or customs communication.
  • Working hours: Standard working hours, with occasional overtime required to handle urgent import/export matters or shipment issues.
  • The company provides a safe and comfortable working environment, as well as necessary labor protection supplies (if on-site work is involved).

Descrierea jobului

1. Import Operations (Mainly from China)
  • Manage the entire import process of raw materials (iron plates, aluminum plates) and cookware semi-finished products from China, including supplier coordination, order follow-up, shipping arrangement (sea/air/land), customs clearance, and delivery to the Romanian factory.
  • Prepare and review all import documents (commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, inspection report, etc.) to ensure accuracy and compliance with Romanian and EU import regulations.
  • Coordinate with Chinese suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and local logistics companies to optimize import efficiency, control costs, and avoid delays in raw material supply affecting production.

2. Export Operations (Mainly within the EU)
  • Handle the export process of finished cookware products to EU member states, including order processing, packaging standardization, shipping arrangement, customs declaration, and document submission in line with EU internal trade regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with EU internal trade rules, including product labeling, quality standards, and any relevant import/export restrictions for cookware products.
  • Track export shipments, communicate with EU customers and logistics partners, and resolve any issues arising during transportation or customs clearance.

3. Compliance Management (Focus on Romanian Regulations & CBAM)
  • Master and keep abreast of Romanian local import and export laws, regulations, and administrative requirements, as well as EU trade policies (including customs union rules, product safety standards).
  • Take full responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), including calculating carbon emissions related to imported iron plates, aluminum plates and cookware semi-finished products, submitting CBAM declarations, and completing relevant filing and payment procedures in accordance with Romanian and EU requirements.
  • Conduct regular compliance reviews of import and export operations, identify potential risks, and propose and implement improvement measures to avoid legal penalties or shipment delays.
  • Cooperate with Romanian local government departments, customs, and inspection institutions, provide relevant documents and reports as required, and respond to inspections and inquiries.

4. Documentation & Data Management
  • Establish and maintain complete import and export files, including shipment records, customs documents, compliance reports, CBAM-related data, and supplier/customer information.
  • Track and analyze import/export data (costs, shipment time, compliance indicators), prepare regular reports for management, and put forward suggestions for optimizing the supply chain and reducing costs.

5. Other Related Work
  • Coordinate with internal departments (production, procurement, sales, finance) to ensure the alignment of import/export operations with production plans and sales orders.
  • Assist in selecting and evaluating freight forwarders, customs brokers, and logistics partners in Romania and China, negotiate service terms, and maintain long-term cooperative relationships.
  • Handle any unexpected issues in import/export operations (customs detention, shipment delays, compliance disputes, etc.) and propose solutions in a timely manner.
