Environmental and Permitting Specialist

• Relevant education, such as a bachelor’s degree in forestry/agricultural engineering, environmental studies, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience, preferably from the construction of energy projects.
• Experience interfacing with national and local authorities, municipalities, and agencies.
• Proven experience in preparing and submitting compliance reports for environmental authorization, local planning, etc.
• Solid understanding of legal terminology applied to land lease agreements and expertise in analyzing and interpreting prevailing regulations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact across multiple business units and stakeholders.
• Ability to perform multiple tasks with strict deadlines.
• Highly proficient English skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of GIS tools.

We are currently looking, on behalf of one of our key clients, for a skilled Environmental and Permitting Specialist to join a major renewable energy project in Constanța area, Romania. We are seeking an experienced and talented Environmental, Permitting, and Land Specialist to join our Onshore Team.

Tasks
The role involves a variety of tasks, and the ideal candidate will demonstrate resilience, perseverance, curiosity, and persistence. The EPL Specialist will be responsible for upholding company standards and collaborating with stakeholders and contractors to ensure that results are delivered to the highest quality and environmental standards.

The EPL Specialist will proactively report on progress, risks, any contractual claims, quality, and environmental impact. The position includes leadership, supervision, coordination, and execution of the onshore wind farm construction, with a focus on Environmental and Permitting compliance and Land. This is in close cooperation with the Construction Manager.

Main tasks may include:
• Define, monitor, document, and report compliance with land lease contracts, permits, resolutions, and the Environmental and Social Monitoring Plan (ESMP).
• Manage, coordinate, and optimize the interface between stakeholders and the project team.
• Interface with clients, government regulators, other contractors, and representatives (e.g., visit client offices, attend regulatory agency meetings, attend public hearings, participate in field visits based on project requirements).
• Manage landowners' complaints and/or requests, including communication, evaluation, tracking, and reporting on land status.
• Inform relevant stakeholders about EPL project progress, risks, and supervise contractor work regarding environmental and permitting compliance, as well as social considerations, in close cooperation with the Construction Manager.
• Prepare client overviews of development/construction status, including risk investment.
• Provide support to ongoing and new development projects, focusing on, but not limited to, permitting and regulatory needs.
