In HUMANA Romania, we operate 40+ shops in 23 cities in the country and we are currently looking for a key team member in the office in Ploiesti to support us in the position of:
DEPUTY CHIEF ACCOUNTANT/ SEF CONTABIL ADJUNCT
- You are strong in statutory accounting and tax compliance, under tight deadlines.
- You enjoy creating order: clear processes, reconciliations, and well-organised documentation.
- You communicate confidently with colleagues across functions.
- You are proactive, discreet, and act with integrity in everything you do.
- You have a communicative level of English.
Who are we looking for:
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience; solid understanding of Romanian accounting principles and tax compliance.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Good working knowledge of Excel and confidence working with accounting software/ERP systems.
- Working English (written and spoken) for communication within an international group.
- High standards of integrity, confidentiality and professionalism; collaborative mindset and openness to change.

- Support the Chief Accountant in organising and controlling end-to-end accounting processes to ensure accurate bookkeeping and cost allocation.
- Prepare and review month-end closing activities: postings, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.
- Assist in year-end closing and statutory reporting: confirmations of balances, inventory results consolidation, and preparation of closing entries and draft tax calculations where applicable.
- Prepare accounting-based reports and documentation for authorities (e.g., ANAF and the National Institute of Statistics) and other institutions, ensuring timely submissions.
- Prepare documentation requested by banks, financial institutions and control bodies (reports, confirmations, explanations).
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions; ensure documents are complete, compliant and properly archived.
- Monitor cash-flow related risks and highlight deviations, unusual expenses, or non-compliance; escalate to the Chief Accountant / Finance Controller.
- Participate in internal control activities (preliminary, current and subsequent controls), inventories, and follow-up on findings to prevent waste, errors and fraud.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures and system settings to increase efficiency and compliance.
- Stay up to date with changes in accounting, tax and labour/social security legislation and translate them into practical, compliant processes.
- Support budgeting and planning activities by providing historical accounting information and analysis when requested.
