The position reports directly to the Financial Controller and CFO and plays a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory and tax regulations, and efficient management of the accounting function.
The Chief Accountant will coordinate the accounting team and ensure that all accounting processes are performed in accordance with local legislation, internal policies, and group reporting requirements.
Requirements:
- University degree in Economics / Accounting / Finance
- CECCAR certification is considered an advantage
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, including at least 3 years in a team management role
- Solid experience with Romanian accounting standards and IFRS reporting
- Experience in real estate, property management, construction or asset management companies is considered an advantage
- Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems represents an advantage
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Well organized, detail oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment

- Lead, coordinate and develop the accounting team, ensuring that all accounting activities are performed accurately and within established deadlines.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations in accordance with company policies, internal procedures and applicable accounting and tax regulations.
- Ensure the proper maintenance of the company’s accounting records and the accuracy of general ledger accounts, including regular reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Coordinate and perform monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities in line with both local statutory requirements and group reporting standards (IFRS).
- Prepare and review accounting reports, financial analyses and management information required by the management team.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of statutory financial statements and tax declarations, in compliance with Romanian legislation.
- Monitor compliance with applicable accounting and tax regulations and ensure implementation of legislative updates when necessary.
- Perform and supervise intercompany reconciliations, including coordination with group entities for accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger reconciliations.
- Proactively perform accounting reviews and preventive quality checks to identify potential discrepancies and initiate corrective actions when required.
- Participate in the preparation of financial data and documentation required for group consolidation reporting.
- Coordinate and support statutory audits, group audits, internal control reviews and fiscal inspections, acting as the main contact person for auditors and tax authorities.
- Ensure proper implementation and monitoring of internal accounting controls and procedures.
- Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information and support business decision-making.
