Senior Software Engineer (C++ / Java) | Bucharest | Full-Time | Permanent

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to join our partner’s Software Engineering / R&D team in Bucharest.

This role is designed for an experienced software developer who still enjoys writing code and solving technical challenges directly, while also helping the team grow and mature from an engineering perspective.

The position combines approximately 60% hands-on software development and 40% technical mentorship and engineering enablement.

This is not a people management role and not a purely architectural position. We are looking for a strong programmer with solid C++ expertise — ideally, though Java may also be considered — who can actively contribute to product development while helping the team improve how software is built, tested, and maintained.

You will work closely with engineers, product managers, and QA specialists to support both technical execution and long-term product quality.


What We Are Looking For:

🔹 7+ years of professional software development experience

🔹 Strong hands-on programming experience and proven ability to write and maintain production code

🔹 Solid experience in C++ development (preferred) or strong Java development background

🔹 Experience working with software development across the full product lifecycle

🔹 Practical experience with unit testing and software quality practices

🔹 Experience working in Agile environments, with understanding of Agile as an engineering and delivery process — not only coding methodology

🔹 Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated quality assurance processes

🔹 Strong collaboration and mentoring capabilities, with the ability to guide and technically enable development teams


Nice to Have:

⭐ Experience with industrial software systems (SCADA, OMS, or similar)

⭐ Experience with real-time, low-latency, or embedded systems

⭐ Strong understanding of memory management, multithreading, concurrency, and performance optimization

⭐ Knowledge of Linux internals, networking, or systems programming

Your Responsibilities

✔ Design, develop, and maintain software products and existing codebases

✔ Write production-quality code, with a strong focus on software reliability, maintainability, and performance

✔ Actively contribute to product development through hands-on programming (primarily C++)

✔ Translate technical requirements and architectural direction into practical development guidance for the team

✔ Mentor and support developers, helping them understand and implement technical requirements effectively

✔ Promote engineering best practices and help the team focus on the full product lifecycle — not only software delivery, but also maintainability, testing, quality, and long-term ownership

✔ Collaborate with Product, QA, and Engineering teams to transform business requirements into robust technical solutions

✔ Actively participate in Agile processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, retrospectives, and technical discussions

✔ Contribute to software quality through unit testing, automated testing practices, and CI/CD-driven development

✔ Support the continuous improvement of development processes and engineering standards
