At its establishment in 1998, REGIONAL AIR SERVICES was among the first private operators in the Romanian aviation sector. In 1999, the company took over the former Utility Aviation Base in Tuzla, thus becoming the first private airport in Romania. As a result, its operational flight services are complemented by a full range of airport services.
Covering an area of 36 hectares, the airport features two grass runways, four heliports, a 1,200 sqm hangar, two administrative buildings (A+B), and a new administrative building (C) dedicated to training for the Flight School and the Sea Survival School. The facilities also include a Boeing 732 Series 300 simulator for ground training of flight crew personnel, a firefighting and self-rescue training simulator, an FNPT II flight training simulator, a fuel storage facility with a capacity of 200,000 liters (with a new facility currently under construction), auxiliary buildings, a vehicle garage, and parking areas.
