Head of Credit Underwriting

Ideal Candidate

Education: completed higher education in Economics.
Experience: minimum 5–7 years of experience in financial analysis; coordination or senior reference roles
Digital Skills: Advanced Excel (e.g., complex formulas, Power Query/Power Pivot), PowerPoint, Word, Power BI knowledge is a plus
Languages: English – fluent, French – an advantage
Key Competencies: Prioritization and efficient deadline management, ability to make decisions in ambiguous situations, effective communication and negotiation skills, results‑oriented mindset, accuracy, autonomy, and attention to detail, planning and organizational abilities, strong analytical and synthesis skills
Domain Knowledge: solid understanding of credit risk principles, scoring/decisioning practices, and the use of external financial databases, relevant knowledge of compliance requirements (KYC/AML) and applicable local regulations

Job Description

You will lead the team that turns financial data into fast, accurate, and well‑founded financing decisions. Your work will shape the analytical methodologies we use, guide and develop people, strengthen risk frameworks, and raise the overall quality of the portfolio.

What you will drive?
Lead and develop the team: set clear objectives, offer continuous feedback, provide coaching, and ensure a balanced distribution of workloads.
Oversee the end‑to‑end credit evaluation process: from document verification and consultation of internal/external databases to issuing the financing opinion within delegated authority.
Enhance the credit risk framework: propose and refine structuring criteria, scoring/decisioning models, thresholds, and exceptions; participate in credit committees
Optimize processes and tools: define efficiency indicators (TAT, approval rate, decision quality), track productivity, and initiate automation or improvements in analytical applications.
Ensure compliance: verify document authenticity, monitor adherence to internal procedures and KYC/AML requirements, and ensure decisions are properly documented.
Promote transparency through reporting: prepare monthly reports on portfolio performance and trends, identify emerging risks, and recommend corrective actions.
