The U.S. Mission in Bucharest is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the Press and Media Coordinator role in the Public Diplomacy (PD) office.
The position is also available at Training grade level, for candidates who do not have the full performance level experience requirements. Salary intervals for each grade are posted on the Embassy's vacancy announcement.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
A University degree in journalism, Communications, International Relations, Political Science, Economics or local equivalent is required.
Experience:
FOR FULL PERFORMANCE GRADE FSN-9: Four years of experience in a media outlet, international organization, government or the private sector, with experience in communication, journalism, public relations or public affairs is required.
FOR FOR TRAINEE GRADE FSN-8: Three years of experience in a media outlet, international organization, government or the private sector, with experience in communication, journalism, public relations or public affairs is required.
FOR TRAINEE GRADE FSN-7: Two years of experience in a media outlet, international organization, government or the private sector, with experience in communication, journalism, public relations or public affairs is required.

Language:
Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Fluent Speaking/Reading/Writing Romanian is required. This may be tested.
Job Knowledge:
A comprehensive understanding of Romanian press and media institutions, professional journalism standards and practices and trends in audience preferences for information consumption (print, TV, radio, online) is required. Must have an understanding of communication trends in the region and internationally as they affect the Romanian information landscape and must be familiar with influence patterns in information flow. This may be tested.

Job Description
The Press and Media Coordinator monitors Romanian press and media coverage of issues of importance to the United States. Identifies and advises Mission leadership on strategies for promoting accurate and balanced Romanian press and media coverage of U.S. foreign policy and American interests. Builds productive relationships with press and media professionals in person and online.
