Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or similar, ideally with AI focus
- Strong foundational understanding of manufacturing processes, lean principles, and automotive quality standards
- Hands-on programming skills (Python or R) and experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit‑learn)
- Practical experience with AI use cases in manufacturing (e.g., vision systems, predictive maintenance, yield optimization)
- Skills in data engineering: collecting, cleaning, and structuring large datasets from machines and sensors
- Understanding of IIoT architecture and common communication protocols (OPC-UA, MQTT)
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to validate AI models and translate data into actionable insights
- Ability to work in cross-functional and international teams, bridging manufacturing engineering and data science
- High motivation to explore new technologies and contribute to continuous innovation (Industry 4.0, automation, robotics)
- Professional fluency in English; German skills are a plus
- Willingness to travel internationally as required
Job Description
- Develop and integrate AI-driven solutions to optimize production throughput, resource utilization, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Implement computer vision systems for automated inspection and defect detection on high‑precision assembly lines
- Design and deploy predictive maintenance models in collaboration with maintenance teams to reduce unplanned downtime
- Analyze large and complex manufacturing datasets to identify patterns, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement
- Support configuration and operation of Industrial IoT (IIoT) devices, sensor networks, and real‑time data pipelines
- Create technical documentation, standard procedures, and guidelines for AI-driven processes and workflows
- Identify, evaluate, and benchmark innovative manufacturing technologies (AI, robotics, IIoT, software systems) for future production concepts
- Act as an internal consultant and advisor for advanced digital and AI applications.
- Contribute to global process and technology roadmaps, and support implementation together with operational units
- Manage special projects related to AI, automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing, including reporting and presentations
- Enable global knowledge sharing and benchmarking within the Advanced Manufacturing community
