Job Description

Ready to move beyond routine support and take real ownership of enterprise network operations? Join our local IT team as a Level 2 Network Engineer, strengthen your technical expertise, and contribute to projects that directly support our business and production environment.

As a Level 2 Network Engineer, you will combine hands-on network operations with active participation in the wider work of our local IT team. You will independently investigate and resolve Level 2 incidents, support infrastructure changes and network projects, and prepare well-documented escalations for complex Level 3 topics. Your main technical scope will include campus and data center switching, enterprise Wi-Fi, routing, firewalls, and network monitoring. At the same time, the role is intentionally broader than networking: you will collaborate on local IT projects, operational improvements, technology rollouts, and cross-functional initiatives based on team and business priorities. This variety will give you the opportunity to broaden your IT knowledge, work closely with local stakeholders and global experts, and make a visible contribution to the reliability and development of our IT environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Incident and Request Management: Independently diagnose and resolve Level 2 network incidents and service requests. Analyze connectivity, VLAN, routing, DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi, firewall, and performance issues, and escalate complex cases with documented findings;

  • Network Operations and Changes: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Cisco switches, access points, and routers, as well as Fortinet firewalls, in line with approved standards and change-management procedures;

  • Monitoring and Availability: Monitor network infrastructure through approved tools, respond to alerts, identify recurring issues, and contribute to root-cause analysis and preventive actions;

  • Network Projects, Documentation, and Compliance: Support network rollouts, upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle activities. Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, inventories, procedures, and change records, while ensuring compliance with global security and infrastructure standards;

  • Active Contribution to the Local IT Team: Take an active role beyond network operations by contributing to local IT projects, technology deployments, process improvements, operational topics, and cross-functional initiatives. Work alongside colleagues from other IT areas, take ownership of agreed work packages, and support changing business priorities;

  • Collaboration and Escalation: Work closely with Level 1 support, Level 3 engineering, cybersecurity teams, service providers, and local business stakeholders. Provide technical guidance to Level 1 colleagues and ensure clear handovers and status communication.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Higher education in IT, telecommunications, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience;

  • Good English communication skills, both written and spoken, for collaboration in an international environment;

  • Strong practical knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4, subnetting, VLANs, trunking, STP, DHCP, DNS, NAT, ACLs, and basic routing concepts;

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Cisco switches, wireless access points, and routers. Experience with Cisco Catalyst Center and Cisco APIC is an advantage;

  • Practical knowledge of firewall administration and troubleshooting, preferably with Fortinet FortiGate, including policies, NAT, VPNs, and log analysis;

  • Experience using operational and troubleshooting tools such as ping, traceroute, nslookup, packet captures, Wireshark, SNMP-based monitoring, syslog, and vendor management platforms;

  • Understanding of data center networking, network segmentation, redundancy, high availability, and modern security principles such as Zero Trust Network Access and 802.1X/NAC;

  • Structured troubleshooting skills, a service-oriented mindset, accurate documentation habits, and the ability to work independently within defined standards. A valid CCNA certification or equivalent knowledge is preferred.
