Job Description
COMMISSIONING ENGINEER
Join DMT Marine Equipment as a Commissioning Engineer and see your work in action, from our workshop to vessels around the world. As part of our Automation team, you’ll test and commission control systems for winches, capstans and mooring systems, carrying out tests at our facility, then taking part in onboard start-up or sea trials.
Enjoy hands-on work, solving practical problems and seeing a project through to operation? This could be your next move. 😊
👉 In this role, you’ll get to:
- Commission electrical and control systems for deck machinery, on site and on board vessels
- Run factory acceptance tests (FAT) and harbour/sea acceptance tests (HAT/SAT) with clients and class surveyors
- Parameterize and tune ABB ACS880 drives for winch applications
- Download, modify and troubleshoot Siemens S7 PLC programs and HMI panels
- Diagnose and fix faults in PROFINET and Modbus networks, sensors, brakes and motor circuits
- Record test results, punch lists and as-built changes, and hand them back to the design team
- Train the client's crew on operation and basic troubleshooting
- Travel to shipyards and vessels as projects require
👉 You might be the perfect fit for the role if you have:
- University degree in automation, electrical engineering, mechatronics or a related field
- At least 2 years of experience in commissioning or industrial automation service
- Solid knowledge of Siemens S7 PLCs and TIA Portal
- Hands-on experience with variable frequency drives (ABB, Siemens or similar)
- Ability to read electrical schematics and trace faults with a multimeter, not just a laptop
- Good technical English, written and spoken
- Willingness to travel, including abroad and for extended periods
- Category B driving licence
👉 Really helpful to have, but not mandatory:
- Experience on ships, offshore units or in a shipyard environment
- Experience with ABB ACS880 in winch applications
- Knowledge of CANopen, Ethernet/IP or other industrial protocols
- Authorized electrician certificate
👉 We’ll reward your commitment and hard work with:
- Hands-on work on real equipment, with direct responsibility for the result
- Training and the chance to grow into senior commissioning or project roles
- An attractive salary package, correlated to your competencies and experience
- Holiday bonus
- Easter and Christmas bonus
- Meal tickets
- Free transportation
- Package of outpatient medical services, with 100% settlement at any medical clinic in the country
- Free access to the company’s gym, free massage sessions and professional coaching
- Additional days of leave depending on seniority at work
- Long-term stability and pleasant working environment
- Team building & entertaining events
Ready to put your skills into action, from our workshop to vessels around the world?
