- operating system core components and structure, filesystems, processes, signals, user management, network configuration
- scripting: bash/Perl
- experience in configuring, administering and monitoring multiple flavors of Linux/Unix and/or Solaris
- experience in configuring and monitoring linux services: Apache, Tomcat, Mysql, Sendmail, Cyrus, Bind, DHCP
- experience in configuring linux security features: IPTables
- configuring and monitoring routing daemons: Zebra/Quagga
- configuring and monitoring linux voip daemons: Asterisk, SER

# good networking knowledge
- knowledge of Cisco routers
- experience in maintaining a TCP/IP network
- knowledge of routing: BGP, static
- knowledge of VPNs: site-to-site, remote access
- knowledge of tunnelling technologies: GRE, IPinIP
- knowledge of network security: Cisco ACLs, Linux IPTables
- basic knowledge of VoIP (Asterisk, SER, SIP)
- basic knowledge of QoS
