eApps Hosting is looking for a strong and effective Technical Support Engineer to join our Technical Support team.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to resolve technical issues with server-side web sites and applications. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide technical solutions to eApps Hosting’s customers. This IS NOT a typical Tier I technical support position! You will be expected to apply System Administrator technical skills, and strong analytical skills, to provide solutions to our customer’s problems. This is a challenging position that requires a high level of commitment and flexibility in work hours. You must also have excellent English language skills.

This is a full time job. Our work model is remote home office. You must have a fast, reliable Internet connection and a quiet place to work. From time to time you may be required to travel for company meetings. We run a 24/7 operation. This position will require odd work hours such as evenings and weekends. Candidates that can cover the US Eastern Time zone will be strongly considered for this position.

You will be responsible for solving technical problems with the customer's hosting services. The successful candidate will have a rewarding and challenging position, with the opportunity to grow and advance. All of our senior technical staff started as a Tech Support Engineer.


The position requires certain “Must Have” skills. You don’t need to have experience in the “Nice to Have” skills, but you should have experience with some of them and have an interest to learn/develop the others.

Must Have Skills:

  • Linux Operating Systems (CentOS, Ubuntu and/or Debian) Knowledge - Exceptional knowledge of Linux is a must. You must have experience troubleshooting Linux server and application issues. Familiarity with the CLI (bash, sh, other shells) is required for this position.
  • Database and Applications Experience - Experience supporting websites and applications running on LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL/MariaDB and PHP), Nginx and Tomcat/Java.
  • Good Understanding of Internet Protocols - Candidate will understand common protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, IMAP/POP3, and DNS.
  • Mail Server Troubleshooting - Experience troubleshooting email delivery issues with mail servers such as Sendmail and Exim.
  • Solid Networking Foundation - You must have a good understanding of how a public facing network operates. You must understand basic network administration to succeed in this position.
  • Content Management Systems - Experience with troubleshooting WordPress, Magento or other CMS platforms.
  • Language Skills - Candidate must be proficient in English, both written and spoken, in a technical environment.
  • Good Judgment - Successful candidate will be able to judge situations and make decisions quickly.
  • Strong Problem-Solving Skills - Your primary responsibility will be to get to the bottom of problems and solve them.
  • Excellent Communication Skills - You will need to feel comfortable interacting with customers and associates over phone, chat and emails.
  • Self-Starter - Ideal candidate has a high energy level and is comfortable producing a high volume of work.
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Previous experience in the web hosting industry.
  • Familiarity with Web Hosting Control Panels – Experience supporting cPanel, Plesk, and ISPmanager.
  • Virtualization Technology - experience working with virtualization technologies such as KVM and Virtuozzo.
  • HA/Clustering Experience - Experience clustering technologies such as Pacemaker, Corosync, DRBD, Percona XtraDB Cluster, and RabbitMQ.
  • Windows Server Operating Systems (2012 - 2020) Knowledge - Windows Knowledge is a plus. Experience troubleshooting Windows server and application issues.
  • VPN Configuration and Troubleshooting – Experience configuring and troubleshooting user access and site-to-site VPN deployments
  • Development Experience - Experience in debugging / development in JAVA, PHP and any other language.
  • DevOps Experience - We work with Ansible mostly, but any kind of experience in this field is welcome.
  • Scripting/Automation Languages – Python, Perl, Bash.
  • PaaS - Experience with Platform as a Service or any other auto-scaling platform.
  • Server Security - Experience with iptables rules management and the basics of encryption.
