J2EE Engineer – Ireland

Overall Purpose
Work in a highly motivated and innovative team involved in the design and development of J2EE Distributed Enterprise Applications with a high quality standard using Agile development techniques.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Realize design and implement Enterprise Applications. Provide mentoring and guidance to other developers on the team.
- Maintain expertise of multiple software technologies.
- Ability to communicate and document functional specifications and technical design to key project team members both orally and via UML notations.
- Proven analytical skills in object-oriented design.
- Provide high-quality coding following J2EE best practices and coding standards.
- Provide accurate effort-estimates for deliverables.
- Interpret and carry out hands-on development of high quality code based against the defined low-level designs.
- Act as the subject matter expert for specific coding applications / platforms within the team.
- Ability to produce test specifications.
- Develop relevant automated unit and regression tests. Unit test code to ensure that it meets functional specifications.
- Undertake all work to internal Quality Management System standard.
- Qualification Level: Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum 3-5 years experience developing web applications with 3 years J2EE development. Experience of designing and developing J2EE Distributed Enterprise Applications.
- Technical Skills: Working experience of languages and technologies as defined in J2EE1.3+ specifications, such as EJB, JMS, JNDI as well as Web Services (SOAP, WSDL), JDBC, SQL, XML is essential.Up to date with the latest developments in J2EE/Java/XML technologies.
- Other Skills: Proven design experience in an OOAD environment (working knowledge of CASE-tools and UML is a distinct advantage) and iterative software development methodologies (XP, RUP, etc.).
- Attributes: Customer focused, committed, excellent communication skills and attention to detail. Proven problem solving abilities. Proven technical leadership skills, quality & deadline driven and a good team player.
- Other: Willingness to travel.
