1. Data sync application for a cloud solution

More than 20.000 desktop applications are concurrently synchronizing data with the cloud
Discuss the requirements with the customers
Understand the desktop application business flows (mostly, by reverse engineering)
Design the cloud database
Design the changes on the client application database
Create database objects (tables, triggers, stored procedures, dynamic objects) for the sync
Create restore mechanisms
Collaborate with java and .NET teams
Create training materials
Create technical documentation
Status reporting
Customer facing (US on-site travel)

2. Reports migration from SQL Server + .NET to a cloud solution based on Mark Logic database + web interface

Complex reports logic stored in SQL Server stored procedures was translated in xQuery and appropriate design on the Mark Logic database
Moving the logic to a multi-tenancy architecture.

My challenges:
3 DB platforms (Oracle 11g, SQL Server 2008, DB2 on z/OS)
Design must be made for large amount of data. Some tables contain hundreds of columns and Billions of data. Performance and Scalability are continuous challenges. Also, the product has a big degree of customer side Flexibility

Responsabilities:
Review Business and Functional Requirements documents for the new projects.
Write the database related sections inside the High Level Design and Detailed Design documents.
Act as Database Lead for several projects.
Assure Non Functional Req's for the new functionalities or for Customer modifications.
Assure database best-practices, naming conventions and Portability
