At STA TRAVEL I was part of a global operations team who dealt with 8 different divisions: Great Britain, Australia, the United States of America, New Zeeland, South Africa, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
My role was that of issuing and reissuing airline tickets in Amadeus, our GDS (Global Distribution System), based on bookings made with our point of sale, various agenties and B2B agents. We issued and reissued those tickets based on strict rules and contracts established by whichever airline stock we would issue the ticket on. Some notable airlines we would work with: British Airways, Virgin America, Virgin Australia, United Airlines, Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines etc.
I also faced highly stressful situations where one of our passengers would be stuck at the airport check-in, but trough patience and hard work with my team, we would make sure our passenger could board the plane no matter what.
Last but not least, within my department I had to keep a close relationship to the point of sale, our STA TRAVEL agenties around the world, and with our B2B agents. We had to make sure we were on the same page when it came down to correctly issue and reissue tickets.
