Software Engineer - .NET Developer with Cobol

You will be working in a development team supporting bespoke software products using .NET and other Internet technologies.

A good degree in Computing or Engineering and practical experience of software development, data manipulation and business systems is required. A good communicator with excellent English, a flexible approach and good problem solving skills is what we are looking for to join our team.


Essential
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
• Commercial experience with .NET Framework 2.0/ 3.5/ 4.0
• Strong C# and/or VB.NET in Visual Studio 2008 and 2010
• Experience with Cobol
• Experience with SQL Server databases
• Experience with WCF, Web Services, XML, XSLT
• Strong familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle
• Experience that includes modeling, designing, coding, unit, integration and regression testing, debugging and deployment, meeting with Business Analysts / Project Managers to review functional business requirement documents
• Coding for development, maintenance, and functionality updates


Optional
• Exposure to non-Microsoft operating systems
• Understanding and experience of e-commerce systems or other transactional systems
• Agile Development with SCRUM
• Understanding of and experience with application architectures (client/server, web, database)
• Experience with ASP.NET, Webforms, WPF

• Development projects
• Development change requests and bug fixes
• Acting as a point of contact for technical requirements
• Resolution of complex technical issues
• Review product specifications in order to give development estimates and product feedback.
• Innovative technical design and creative of technical specifications
• Unit testing
• Code reviews
• Software engineering, adhering to and feeding back into departmental standards and guidelines
• Working with product managers and the business to deliver solutions
• Supporting technical team delivery
