Application Packaging Engineer

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
• Solid educational background,
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft operating system environments (Registry, Drivers, Services, Users, File System etc., structure and functionality),
• Knowledge of standards and quality initiatives and being able to follow them,
• Capacity to quickly learn new things and being able to apply theory into practice,
• Strong communication skills and being able to integrate your efforts into a team work. English language is required at a conversational level,
• Understanding of knowledge management and knowledge transfer,
• Any experience in Application Packaging and being able to determine key aspects of packaging concepts is a plus. Knowledge of MSI, Wise, Installshield, SMS Installer, ORCA, WinInstall, packaging technologies is also a plus,
• Experience of software implementations into medium or large enterprise businesses is a plus
• Experience in Visual basic is a plus.

Overall Job Purpose:
Effective delivery of SCC’s Application Packaging Services providing excellent customer service and technical packaging capabilities
Main Duties of the Job:
The first three months consists in training and getting a strong knowledge about what application packaging is all about. Two weeks out of this 3 months period time is about an extensive training and the remaining time is “training on the job”. During this time you will acquire knowledge about the following aspects:
- key concepts of application packaging
- strong knowledge about MSI(Microsoft Installer) technology
- knowledge about developing Visual Basic scripts and integrate them with your installer packages
- strong knowledge about packaging technology and packaging tools as Wise Packaging Studio or Orca
- you will learn to use documentation and to document your work on the way
- you will learn the procedures to follow in order to provide required quality standards following a given timeline
- you will learn to contribute to Team Effort by creating an effective working environment accomplishing related results as needed

After these three months of training, the Applications Packager will be responsible for the quality packaging of applications in line with customer requirements. He/she is responsible for ensuring packaging processes and standards are followed.
