Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

• Solid educational background
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft operating system environments. MCSE in NT4, 2000 or XP or equivalent qualification is desirable
• Can demonstrate solid knowledge of desktop technologies and understanding of core desktop builds
• Experience of Registery issues and File Protection
• Able to determine key aspects of packaging standards
• Understanding of applications deployment
• Experience of software implementations into medium or large enterprise businesses
• Knowledge of standards and quality initiatives
• Understanding of knowledge management and knowledge transfer
• Management experience in a team up to 5 employees.
• Excellent communication skills.

Background experience in Application Packaging is a plus.
Experience in Visual basic is a plus.
Knowledge of MSI, Wise, Installshield, SMS Installer, ORCA, WinInstall, packaging technologies is a plus.

Overall Job Purpose:

Effective delivery of SCC’s Application Packaging Services providing excellent customer service and technical packaging capabilities

Main Duties of the Job:

After a three months training, the Applications Packager is responsible for the quality packaging of applications in line with customer requirements. He/she is responsible for ensuring packaging processes and standards are followed.

• Application Packaging ensuring; quality and SLA guidelines are adhered to for all client based and internal application packaging
• Application Quality Assurance, ensuring; standard testing procedures are adhered to and reported on
• Provide Documentation on a range of technical issues as required
• Contributes to Team Effort by creating an effective working environment accomplishing related results as needed.
• Assists Knowledge Management by ensuring an environment conducive to exchanging and sharing knowledge internally and externally is maintained. Ensure ‘knowledge notes’ within the CATALYST system are kept up to date and make staff aware of important issues.
• Liaise with other SCC Staff to ensure process and procedure is continually improved. Feedback on all procedures and systems is escalated to appropriate levels and followed through to ensure implementation is carried out.
• Is Flexible and can perform various functions when required.
• Leader of the packaging team. Starting with 4 junior engineers.
• Managing the packaging team.
• Ensure the technical skills of the packaging team.
• Contact person for packaging centre The Netherlands.
• Responsible for recruitement of new engineers.
• Train new engineers.
• Responsible for the assesment of the package engineers.
