What does Global Procurement do at HP?

Global Procurement (GP) is a world class procurement organization responsible for all spend related to non-production goods and services. We procure everything from technology (such as hardware, software, and telecommunications) to marketing, outside labor, facilities and business services - basically anything that HP purchases in order to do business internally and in support of our outsourced services clients.

Global Procurement Intern Job Description

Global Procurement, with over 1,000 employees worldwide, is an innovative group that is at the forefront of its industry helping to fuel HP's growth. Students who enter the Global Procurement intern program will be involved in initiatives that span HP, helping to transform the way we do business.

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who will have completed their third year of a Bachelor's level (or equivalent) degree. GP wants people who can bring innovative ideas and fresh perspectives into our organization.

A robust internship program has been developed for the position where the intern will be able to support different activities, rotating from activity every one or two weeks. The program will include a basic training about GP concepts and Sourcing Center work units that will give the person sufficient knowledge to participate on the program as well as a high level understanding of Global Procurement in HP and the Sourcing Center services portfolio.

The activities include:
1) Perform Supplier Qualification which represents evaluating a supplier to confirm compliance with diverse laws and regulations prior to engaging with them. It includes a review of financial stability along with business and legal risk.
2) Review requests for creating vendors in the HP database which represents the GP approval in alignment to the Approved Supplier lists (ASL) and supplier rationalization program.
3) Execute Pricing & Quoting which represents obtaining prices from suppliers for a product, service, project or program that has clear and predetermined specification.
4) Support the internal audit process to ensure the Contracts executed by the SC are compliant according to the audit criteria.
5) The intern will be assisting the Employee Growth Plan (EGP) lead to coordinate deliverables of the EGP program, a program that fosters employee development leveraging existent internal SC knowledge and capabilities.
