The Communications Global Business Unit (CGBU) has recently been created by Oracle through the acquisition of Portal Software and MetaSolv. The remit of the CGBU is to provide Billing & Revenue Management (BRM) and Service Fulfilment Management (SFM) applications sotware to Communications and Media Operators, covering fixed line and mobile, voice, data and content. The role of the consulting team within the unit is to provide high value expertise in the product set, working with both partners & operators, to ensure that customers maximise the value of their investment.
Engagements range from the provision of individual subject matter experts, through design authority teams responsible for designing and overseeing the optimal implementation of the applications, through to full implementation responsibility.
A Senior Consultant is responsible for implementing technical solutions that fully utilize Oracle’s BRM (Billing and Revenue Management) or SFM (Service Fulfilment Management) products. The Senior Consultant understands and applies the technical components of Oracle’s solutions, in both a customer and systems integrator environments, to address specific customer requirements and has a thorough understanding of the capabilities and benefits of the solution.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Present technical solutions in an articulate and professional manner to customers
- Identify and quantify the customers’ technical and business needs and to coach customer and colleagues in Oracle BRM or SFM solutions, customization and configuration to address those needs
- Write the functional specifications and map Oracle’s capabilities to those needs and build consensus around the technical solution required
- Act as the technical expert to the customer demonstrating solid customer communications skills.
- Build relationships with key technical customer contacts and systems integrators
- Have appropriate relationships with Oracle engineering and technical support
- Work closely with the Account team in planning and coordinating sales efforts and providing visibility into all delivery related activities.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
This role demands individuals with the skills and understanding capable of bringing these elements together in a compelling business centred solution that addresses technical concerns and questions. Strong candidates must possess 4+ years of implementation experience with wide ranging knowledge in BSS/OSS telecommunications and/or media environments. In addition we seek:
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, along with strong consultative skills. A good level of French, though not essential, would be an added advantage.
- Excellent presentation skills, a confident communicator who is enthusiastic, self-starting and flexible in style and approach.
- Extensive experience of customer facing engagements for all stages of the solution delivery lifecycle.
- Experience of software architectures and technologies including: Oracle, UNIX, J2EE, XML, Java, C/C++.
- Good knowledge of billing and rating or OSS processes gained in either an operator, systems integrator or product vendor would be an advantage.
- Established technical implementation skills at a senior level as a consultant within a professional services team focusing on requirements analysis, design and delivery of solutions
- Capability to develop into a solution architect, business consultant or project manager.
