Agriculture Operations Manager

• Graduate of a local or international agricultural university or college. Post graduate studies will be considered as an additional benefit.

• Experience of farming cereals for at least 3 years is required.

• An overall knowledge of the current agricultural market is required in terms of prices, legislation, land acquisition and competition.

• He/she must be a highly motivated individual with high integrity.

• A fairly broad oral and written knowledge of the English language is required.

• Must be computer literate and have knowledge and experience in working with MS Office.

• Will need to be able to prioritize his/her schedule according to the objectives set by the fund management.

• Presentation skills are important but not a strict prerequisite.

• Reporting will be to the chief executive of the company.

To organize and supervise operations on our own farms and provide consulting to third-party farmers in Romania. The job requires strong knowledge of cereals farming and managing farm operations. Beyond this the ideal candidate needs to be a structured individual who will be able to present both planned and ad hoc solutions to clients, and be willing to invest time and effort in ‘hands-on’ activities at the farm and office level. There will be three main aspects to the work:

1. Agronomic work: soil assessment, crop planning, fertilizer and agrochemicals assessments;

2. Operations: including machinery, sowing and harvesting, logistics, staff, sales of crops, negotiating with suppliers, dealing with the authorities;

3. Financial and management reporting: working with our accounts and operations teams to report on budgets and operational results.

The Location:
An office will be provided in Bucharest but the ideal candidate needs to dedicate the majority of his time on the farms and with clients, which entails country side visits and overnight stays.
