Developer and Platform Evangelism Lead

- 8 – 10 years of related experience
- 4-5 years of management experience
- Strong business leadership and technical passion
- Ability to make strategic business decisions based on market analysis.
- Proven leadership skills – not only leading their immediate work group but also strategic leadership on difficult business problems.
- Good knowledge of application development technologies and practices.
- Previous experience as software developers at some point in their careers is a plus
- Significant marketing skills and experience as well as experience working with enterprise companies
- Deep knowledge of how to engage with, and impact, broad communities (e.g., broad developer and IT Pro communities).

The Developer and Platform Evangelism (DPE) team’s overall mission is to secure platform adoption and tools revenue growth through evangelism, community engagement, relationship marketing and a vibrant solutions ecosystem, all driving to high Customer Partner Experience, market-leading adoption and incremental revenue for Microsoft and its partners.

As a subsidiary lead role, this position has domestic and regional impact due to platform adoption activities with local and multi country customers and partners. DPE Lead is also expected to leverage and share best practices with worldwide DPE.


Job’s Purpose

The DPE Lead makes the following strategic decisions:
(1) cross-group initiatives to drive platform adoption across all customer/partner segments (e.g., ISV engagement strategy)
(2)allocation of DPE resources across platform adoption, community development & engagements activities focused on developers, IT Pro, Students & Faculty, ISVs, enterprise customer, etc
(3) coordination with the CSI lead, contribute to competitive platform strategy, with particular focus on open source software and LAMP(E)
(4) broad platform messaging that impacts marketing in BMO and other subsidiary groups

The DPE Lead plays a strategic business development role on the subsidiary leadership team – working closely with the GM, segment leads and BMO on long-term business strategy.

The responsibilities of DPE Lead are to:

- Develop and lead the strategic direction across the subsidiary for which the DPE Group is responsible. This includes overall responsibility for ISV strategy, competitive strategy, broad platform strategy and tools market share/revenue
- Manage all DPE Group functions. This includes (1) engaging the broad developer, architect and IT Pro communities; (2) driving platform adoption among enterprise customers, ISVs and services partners; (3) evangelizing the platform to students and faculty; and (4) executing on platform and developer tools marketing and outreach activities
- Engage directly with customers, partners, developers, IT Pros, press and analysts. Spend time on high-impact one-to-one or one-to-few engagements with the most influential people in the marketplace.
- Coordinate overall platform strategy and execution with the leadership team and with other regional groups such as EPG, SMS&P, Public Sector and BMO. Drive cross-group initiatives with broad subsidiary/regional impact (e.g., competition; ISV strategy). Ensure shared goals and close collaboration with other groups on activities that increase platform adoption.
