Linux System Administrator

We are looking for an enthusiastic dedicated, self-motivated Linux System Administrator to work within our Integration team. The team is responsible for creating all development and testing environments, application servers as well as the successful deployment of applications and code into these environments. Responsibilities are varied but the main aim of the role will be providing a client facing customer focused product delivery service, providing high quality product in agreed timelines and driving continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will be proactive, thorough and have excellent technical and problem solving skills, with a positive and results-driven attitude.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Server builds and implementation of new virtual and physical infrastructure
• Deployment and configuration of new software application releases
• Offering support for Development and QA teams
•Continuous improvement of processes through automation of common procedures, and implementation of standards, processes and checklists
•Assisting other engineers and developers within the team to build and scale the infrastructure for growth, security, and resilience
•Review of hardware and software design documents
•Resource estimations for projects and software releases
•Responsibility to contribute to the documentation used by the team

KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential:
•2-3+ years’ experience of Linux administration
• Good knowledge and experience of Red Hat Enterprise/ CentOS Linux systems administration
• Experience in application deployment and configuration on Linux/Windows platforms
• Experience of supporting JBoss/Tomcat/IIS and/or other Java application servers
• Excellent problem solving, analytical, troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Experience of Virtualization technologies (Preferably Xen Enterprise)
• Knowledge of automation tools (Preferably Chef)
• Ability to use scripting technologies (Bash, Ruby) to create/modify scripts
• Experience of Windows administration

Desirable:
• Experienced with automated building of Red Hat servers.
• Experienced in creation and roll-out of technical and procedural standards
• Experience of working in large environments, with experience and understanding of change control and release management processes
• Ability to work and communicate with non-technical business staff
• Implementation and configuration of monitoring tools
• Experience of load balancing products and/or clustering (HA and HPCC)
• Experience in the administration of RDBMS databases (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server)
• Networking experience and knowledge
• Understanding of high-volume transactional systems and distributed applications
