Editor-in-chief

We are searching for an Editor in Chief to join our growing company. The successful candidate will be charged with identifying and reporting on emerging trends and developments in the IT, telecommunications and consumer electronics industry through contacts and sources including professionals, media and websites identified through networking and research. Tasks will include generating story leads, writing articles from a variety of perspectives, establishing editorial direction and managing one of our publications from A-Z.

Requires:
- Minimum 3 years experience as editor.
- Ideal candidate will be an energetic, hands-on, inclusive manager who has vision and deep editorial skills; proven writing talent; knowledge of the local IT, telecommunications and consumer electronics industry.
- University certifications preferred degree;
- Language: Good knowledge of English, knowledge of written and spoken German or a third language is an asset.

Verifiable references.

- Creatively follow established direction of the magazine and is responsible for the content of the magazine.
- Produces the monthly line-up and drafts the flat-plan, liasing with editorial, design and advertising staff.
- Conducts brainstorming sessions and produces ideas. Acts as the final judge of what stories can be accepted.
- Edits news pieces writes headline for and approve cover.
- Assigns story and give angles to stories in the magazine. Supervises copy flow
- Manages and motivates the team, promoting an open and co-operative office atmosphere.
- Develops story line-ups in advance, conducting research and keeping up with events.
- Assists in the selection of visuals and is part of the final decision on the visuals.
- Co-ordinates editors, freelancers, translators, design and proofreaders to develop a successful magazine.
- Write stories on a voluntary basis. Is in charge with the editorial page and the letters-to-the-editor pages, if the case.
- Develops and maintains a network of influential professional contacts within the local community seeking to promote the magazine. Maintains constructive relations with advertisers.
