CANDIDATUL IDEAL:
Qualifications:
* Computer Science graduate (preferably M.Sc.+).
* Mathematical rigor in algorithm design and superior understanding of computing architecture bottlenecks.
* Strong knowledge of NoSQL databases (preferably Apache Cassandra).
* Strong knowledge of SQL/RDBMS concepts.
* 3+ years programing experience (preferably Python, C/C++).
* Knowledge about open source solutions for the described problem space.
* Superior communication skills.
Preferred additional skills/experience:
* 3+ year experience in designing highly scalable distributed systems.
* 3+ years of UNIX experience including shell scripting.
* IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
* Practical experience with public cloud vendors (Amazon EC2 or similar).
* Practical experience with Apache Cassandra, Membase, Memcached, Redis and Nginx.
* Practical experience with cross data center system design.

Avira is looking for an experienced, professional, and highly motivated Distributed Systems Engineer to join our team. We're growing Avira's next generation of cloud services.
Working closely with members of our Cloud Service Development team, and of course experts from the Protection Labs and Web QA, you will develop exciting new distributed and highly scalable applications and be proud to ship an application that will service millions of users.
You will be dedicated to system analysis, system design, system architecture, data flow/throughput analysis, data security and capacity planning. You will do theoretical complexity analysis and you also have a deep understanding of all system layers including virtualization and networking.
Responsibilities:
* Design, develop and optimize large distributed system which scale well to petabytes of data and are automatically deployable.
* Find performance bottlenecks, security holes and failure points in any layer of the architecture and implement fixes.
* Make sure that the high standards regarding availability, scalability, security and performance are met. Your knowledge of systems, networking, virtualization, file system and database internals enable you to evaluate and monitor consistency, latency, throughput, availability, security and other metrics of the designed systems.
* Investigate and use cutting-edge technologies for a vast variety of complex problems.
* Work efficiently without close supervision.
* Deliver on time by juggling multiple competing demands.
