Datacenter - Sales Engineer

Position Description
The Datacenter Sales Engineer is responsible for pre-sales technical support for the YourNextHost family of brands. This is a critical role that is the liaison between the sales team and the technical teams, and is the central clearing house for all technical issues that the Sales staff needs assistance with to close new business. This person is expected to develop documentation to standardize the most common types of product configurations and to ensure that the Support team has the tools they need to properly support custom configurations.

Job Duties

* Assist sales staff on an as-needed basis to close business with qualified leads or existing clients
* Central clearing-house for all technical questions from the sales team
* Work closely with sales to develop quotes and RFP responses
* Attend conference calls and on-site meetings with qualified leads
* Review prospect requirements and invent viable solutions
* Develop on-demand Visio diagrams to support prospect requirements
* Work with Professional Services Manager to develop Scope of Work (SOW) definitions
* Liaison between Sales and Technical teams
* Standardize on documentation for complex & custom configurations
* Author downloadable HOWTO and Whitepaper PDFs
* Point person for partner solution recommendations
* Oversight of the server deployment process
* Support companies technical training for all sales
* Quality tracking of deployments for process improvement
* Train the support staff to support custom topologies
* Public web site FAQ & support content
* Additional duties as required from a small, fast growing company

Required Qualifications

* At least 3 years experience working with external customers on technical issues
* 1-2 years experience as a systems administrator / engineer
* 1-2 years experience with Linux and FreeBSD
* 1-2 years experience with Windows Server technology
* 1-2 years hands-on experience with Apache, BIND, SMTP mail servers
* 1-2 years experiencing working with Load Balancers
* Experience working in a data center environment highly preferred
* Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and networking concepts
* Ability to prioritize workload and shift attention among changing priorities
* Excellent organizational skills, ability to self-project manage, and desire to work under pressure in a highly dynamic environment
* Ability to work without any supervision. A thorough background check and references will be required
* Excellent communication skills and ease with clients

Desired Qualifications

* Project management experience is desirable
* Some Cloud Computing experience is desirable
* College degree with an emphasis on technology strongly preferred.
