- should have experience with client/server architectures
- should be security-minded, aware of what could be attacked and how
- should have experience creating/administrating Linux servers
- must be independent, able to do his/her own research, and reach good
solutions
- must be willing to accept responsibility for servers, their
development, administration, and maintenance whenever needed
- must be able to think at a low-level and understand what is really
going on underneath all the layers of abstraction, or at least a
willingness to learn on-the-fly and look deeper whenever the situation
requires it
- should grok pointers
- should understand the basics of HTTP requests (differences between
GET/HEAD/POST, headers, and so on)
- should be familiar with using XMLs to store/exchange information
