Senior Structural Engineer

This role is to work as part of a new engineering team, taking a senior role in project work focused on production and client liaison and mentoring and coaching junior members of the team.

The successful candidate will have, or obtain through training, a comprehensive understanding of seismic design to local seismic codes and seismic Eurocode 8. He will also have a comprehensive understanding and a flair and ability to apply to structural designs prepared by the successful applicant, the requirements of the Eurocode design standards, particularly in Concrete and Steel.
The applicant is to be :

 Self-motivated and posses an inherent passion in the field of structural engineering.
 Willing to excel and learn new engineering methods which bring innovation and creativity into their own structural design solutions.

Requirements

The applicant should have an MEng degree (or equivalent) in Structural or Civil engineering discipline, or will be Chartered, Incorporated Engineers or close to obtaining the qualification. Ideally, the candidate will be approaching or have recently achieved chartered status (Civil or Structural) with proven design experience.

A good communicator.

Able to work under own initiative to achieve targets and meet deadlines.

They will be expected to contribute to resource planning and project budget costing of their projects.

Highly computer literate (MS Office, structural analysis software)

The candidate must also have the potential to take on a management role in supervising and mentoring less experienced team members, and have the drive and enthusiasm to develop in time to more senior levels.

This is one of a few unique positions within the company where a candidate can expand his current knowledge and abilities of structural design, to areas of seismic design and European standards which are areas for future.

Responsibilities :

The key responsibilities of this role will be engaged either as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team working on large projects, or independently managing small/medium projects that will:-

Prepare, monitor and review innovative structural design solutions ensuring their timely delivery.

Use and implement modern structural design computer modelling methods.

Undertake structural design to British, European and local standards

Organise and undertake site inspections as necessary.

Preparing technical reports to a high technical and presentational standard.

Deal professionally and diligently with clients, internal and external project managers
