CANDIDATUL IDEAL:
On behalf of our prestigious client, the British Embassy in Bucharest, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and adaptable Temporary Trade Development Assistant.
The successful applicant will be part of the Embassy’s Trade Development Section which is responsible for promoting and supporting British companies and products on the Romanian market mainly by identifying economic and commercial opportunities, business trends, potential partners, etc. The information is conveyed to UK companies, trade associations, as well as officials mainly via:
- routine information (e.g. country profile, local culture, sector’s information, etc)
- sector summaries and sales leads
- chargeable services (e.g. tailored reports, programme arranging service, etc).
The Trade Development Section is a busy and dynamic section. It has three sector teams. The TDA will work with a Trade Development Officer to assist UK exporters and compile information in various sectors with a particular focus on the environment, water, construction, I&CT, power, ports and marine. Opportunities may exist for travel within Romania.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- To deliver our chargeable services whether in the form of sector reports or a programme of appointments.
- Conduct basic market research and disseminate to the relevant companies, partners and stakeholders.
- Deal with routine enquiries via telephone, email, fax and provide the Trade Development Officer with general administrative support.
- Provide support to the Trade Development Officer in producing a Sector in Market Summary (SIM) on both the construction and power sectors.
Requirements:
The successful candidate is expected to have the following skills:
- excellent English both oral and written with focus on business language drafting and reporting; good management of information
- the ability to deal effectively with people at all levels
- basic experience in any of the mentioned sectors would be an advantage, particularly construction or power
- customer focused ‘can do’ attitude
- very good IT&C knowledge (MS Office incl. Access, Internet Explorer and Outlook) as well as efficient use of office equipment
The jobholder should be a self-starter and a team player that needs to work without close supervision on multiple projects and cope with tight deadlines. He/she should be well organized as well as creative.

The length of employment is initially for 3 months. Please note that whilst this job is a temporary role, there may be scope to extend the duration of the contract thereafter but only again on a short-term basis.
