1. Layer 2 switching:
- MAC forwarding, MAC Based Security
- VLANs, Protocol VLANs, Private VLANs, Dot1Q
- Spanning-Tree protocol, Multiple STP, Rapid STP, Per VLAN STP
- Port Fast-Forwarding, BPDU-guard, Up-Link-Fast Convergence
- Up_Link Failover Detection
- Static PortChannel
- Dynamic PortChannel (LACP - Link Aggregation Protocol)
- Load Balancing (SMAC, DMAC, SMAC & DMAC, SIP, DIP, SIP & DIP)
- Quality Of Services (Prioritizing the traffic based on dot1P priority and/or DSCP, remarking the traffic)
- Access Control Lists (deny/permit policies based on Layer 2 headers as SMAC, DMAC, Vlan ID, dot1P or on Layer 3 headers as SIP, DIP, Protocol, Port application, DSCP, TOS, etc)
- Port-Mirroring (monitoring the ingress/egress/both traffic for one or many ports using a mirror port)
2. Layer 3 Routing:
- IP Interfaces, Subneting, Default Gateway

- planificare proiectelor
- crearea de test-planuri
- testare de acceptanta
- testare functionala
- testare system (setup-uri mari, interoperabilitate intre diferite features, interoperabilitate cu produsele altor brad-uri: Cisco, HP, IBM, Foundry, etc
- identificarea "bug-urilor" si raportarea lor intr-o baza de date
- verificarea "bug-urilor" pe o noua versiune software
- regresie (executarea unui anumit procentaj din test-plan pe finalul ciclului de testare)
4. Project manager resposabilities:
Responsabilitati in coordonarea echipei de testare (QA):
- alcatuirea unei echipe pentru fiecare produs/release testat
- stabilirea unui team-lead pentru fiecare echipa
- alocarea resurselor hardware necesare fiecarui proiect (PCs, Devices to be tested, Traffic generators slots, Chassis, etc)
- supravegherea crearii test-planurilor si verificarea lor
- supravegherea intregului ciclu de testare pentru un anumit produs
5. alte cunostinte:
- tehnici de testare/ciclu de testare (functionala, pe componente, integrare, system, regresie, validare, etc)
- generatoare de trafic IXIA si SmarBit Spirent
- bugs database Bugzilla si Clarify
- sniffers: Whireshark, Ethereal
